Cen Selected as Finalist for the George Nicholas Student Paper Competition

ECE Ph.D. candidate Shicong Cen has recently been selected as a finalist for the George Nicholson Student Paper Competition. His paper, "Fast Global Convergence of Natural Policy Gradient Methods with Entropy Regularization," focuses on developing non-asymptotic convergence guarantees for entropy-regularized NPG methods under softmax parameterization, focusing on tabular discounted Markov decision processes. Cen is advised by Yuejie Chi, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

The George Nicholson Committee competition is held each year to identify and honor outstanding papers in the field of operations research and the management sciences written by a student.
