Carnegie Mellon University

Research

ECE strongly believes in coupling theoretical concepts introduced in the classroom with hands-on experience in laboratories and projects.

Faculty in the department are involved in research that is cutting-edge and multidisciplinary, and undergraduate students of all levels of expertise are encouraged to participate in research projects. Undergraduate research projects provide students with the opportunity to earn academic credit while participating in the research programs of individual faculty members.

Students who engage in research for academic credit may apply the units toward either their ECE coverage requirement or their free elective requirements. Please contact your academic advisor for specific information on how to register for research units.

ECE students can find open research opportunities on our Student Project Tracker website.
