Timothy X Brown is a professor of engineering and public policy at Carnegie Mellon University Africa. From 1995 to 2012 he was at the University of Colorado at Boulder, most recently as professor and director of the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program. He received his B.S. in physics from Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, after which he worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Bell Communications Research. His research interests include adaptive network control, machine learning, and wireless communication systems. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, and the GWEC Wireless Educator of the Year Award.Research
