The main ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes. Graduates will receive their diplomas at the ECE Diploma Ceremony.

Graduates must RSVP to the ECE Diploma Ceremony, regardless of whether or not they are attending. We customize diplomas and graduate seating based on who is attending, so response is crucial for our planning. Please use the RSVP form as soon as you finalize your attendance plans.
Persons with disability challenges who may need additional accommodations are welcome to contact the Peterson Events Center.
ALL GRADUATES MUST RSVP TO THE ECE DIPLOMA CEREMONY to let us know whether or not you are attending.
Required for anyone participating in the ECE diploma ceremony.
ECE will be hosting several information sessions concerning commencement (these will be multiple occurences of the same session - graduates only need to attend one). Any graduate who is currently on campus, and planning to attend the diploma ceremony is required to attend any one of the sessions listed below. At the information session, you will receive detailed information about commencement day ceremonies.
If you are not able to attend any of the sessions listed, please contact your academic advisor.
All information sessions will be held in HH 1107
The Hooding Ceremony for Ph.D. candidates will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017. If you will be receiving your Ph.D., please review the Doctor's Hooding Ceremony instructions on the CMU Commencement Weekend website. The ECE Department does not coordinate this event. Please refer to the guidelines listed on the Commencement website.
If you are an international guest who will be joining us over commencement weekend, please be sure to review the website of the U.S. Embassy nearest to you to get current information and visa requirements. More information can be found here.
GradImages will photograph each graduate as they are presented their diploma on stage. This photograph will be mailed to the student’s permanent address from GradImages, as a gift from the ECE department. Please note: August and December 2016 graduates do not need to bring their diploma to the May ceremony. They will be presented with a blank diploma case on stage for photographs.
